I Am I
      We Never See
I cry,
I mourn.
Wonder why
I was born.

I lie,
I cheat.
Wonder why
I take defeat.

I love,
I cherish.
Wonder why
I choose to perish.

I ask,
I sigh.
Wonder why
I am I.
  We never seem
     To take the time
Till the time’s no longer ours.

We never see

     What’s in our hands

        While searching through the stars.

We never want

     The things we have

        Till they somehow slip away.

And then we want tomorrow

     What we had

        Just yesterday.
